GM recalls 4.3 million vehicles over air bag-related defect

General Motors recalled more than 4 million vehicles, most of them in the U.S., to fix an air bag software defect that has been linked to one death.The vehicles involved in the recall are all from the 2014-2017 model years and include models from Buick, Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac.The company is recalling 4.28 million vehicles worldwide, of which 3.6 million are in the U.S."That is a big number and the concern is, we dont know at this point in time, is it going to be expanded?

(GM) announced Friday to recall 3.64 million vehicles in the US as a software glitch may prevent front air bags from deploying.There is a software defect in the sensing and diagnostic module that controls air bag and pre-tensioners deployment, which may prevent deployment of front air bags and pre-tensioners under "certain rare circumstances when a crash is preceded by a specific event impacting vehicle dynamics," the Detroit News quoted the U.S. automaker as saying.Dealers will update the software for free.
