The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Will Be Your Favorite Off-Road Truck
Its been two years since Chevy first started teasing us with its mid-sized off-road pickup concept, but the wait for the real deal is finally over.The Colorado ZR2 comes with a much wider track, a lifted suspension and Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers off a Camaro Z/28, functional rockers and modified bumpers for better clearance.You can spec it with a 3.6 V6 with 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque or a Duramax diesel offering 181 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft, both of which are mated to an 8-speed automatic.

Chevrolet has unveiled an off-road oriented version of its mid-size Colorado known as the ZR2.The Colorado ZR2 will compete directly against cars/" target="_blank">Toyotas all-new Tacoma TRD Pro.Using the Colorado as a base, Chevrolet engineers widened the ZR2s track by 3.5-inches and raised the suspension by two inches.The Colorado ZR2 rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 31-inch Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.The ZR2s lifted suspension includes Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers, which were developed by Chevy initially for the high-performance Camaro Z/28.

But perhaps what makes the ZR2 really special is that buyers can opt for the Duramax diesel engine with 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque or a new 3.6-liter V6 with 308 ponies and 275 lb-ft of kick, which is paired to an eight-speed slushbox.In addition to its sophisticated four-wheel drive system, the ZR2 can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry up to 1,100 lbs of payload.Chevy also notes the ZR2 is about a foot narrower and 500 pounds lighter than full-size off-road trucks.
